Spirit Wars by Dr. Mike Evans

Challenges have been hurled from Tehran: There is no place for the Jewish State in the future…The Zionist regime will meet with destruction through unity in the Islamic world.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, and its President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad are carrying out a deliberate strategy and plan to mobilize tens of millions of Muslims in the Middle East against Israel. The two have made the most demonic attacks against the Jewish people since the days of Adolf Hitler.

To the best of my knowledge I am the only Jew and Zionist to have met face-to-face with these leaders. A flood of questions about the encounter has reached me from Israeli leaders, U.S. leaders, radio talk show hosts, including Glenn Beck, and other God-fearing men and women. There is no way to understand the events that are unfolding and how they fit into God’s prophetic plan for our age without understanding what is happening and why.

What is going on in the Middle East is part of a spirit war. It is no different than the war fought in ancient Iran (Persia) in the days of the prophet Daniel. Challenges have been hurled from Tehran: “There is no place for the Jewish State in the future…The Zionist regime will meet with destruction through unity in the Islamic world…

Anyone who loves freedom and justice must strive for the annihilation of the Zionist regime…The Zionist regime will be wiped off the map and thrown into the trash pit of history forever…The Israeli machine is a tool in the hands of Zionists who control the Middle East and the world…The Zionist regime is a cancerous tumor; its very existence is an insult to humankind…The Zionists control the world media and financial system.”

These demon-possessed rages which spew forth from the mouths of Iran’s leaders are the same as those which came from the mouth of Nebuchadnezzar in Babylon, and later Hitler. The only difference is that modern-day Iran is a country which is 1.6 million square kilometers with an annual purchasing power of one trillion dollars. It also controls 10 percent of the world’s oil reserves. It is, as a top Israeli atomic expert told me, “A screwdriver turn away from having the capacity to build atomic bombs.”

Simply put, if Iran is allowed to go nuclear, it will precipitate a one trillion dollar atomic arms race in all Gulf Sunni Arab states. Their vast oil wealth gives them the means and the hatred of Shi’a Muslims for Sunnis will give them all the motivation they need. Iran is more than 90 percent Shi’a Muslim with a 200-mile Persian Gulf border. Many experts believe an Armageddon-type conflict could occur within the next decade. If you’ve not read my latest novel, Seven Days, based on an Israeli attack against Iran, you need to do so. It was released July 4, 2012. The book documents two periods of seven days—the first the attack on Iran, the second period on Iran’s planned attack on the U.S. through Hezbollah terrorists. (And three Hezbollah terrorists were arrested in Mexico early in September!)

Israel’s attack on Iran’s reactors could begin with a massive cyber-attack against Iran’s infrastructure in an attempt to shut down the country’s radar and missile launch capabilities. If the electro-magnetic attack (EMP) is successful, then Israel would not need to carry out further strikes with ballistic missiles. The likelihood is great that 1,100 targets would have to be hit in order to prevent Iran from retaliating against the countries that allowed Israel flight clearance. It would also prevent shutting down the Strait of Hormuz and strikes against U.S. bases and allies in the region. Should Iran retain the capacity to retaliate, it would experience a barrage of missiles trained at its nuclear facilities. The initial attack would last approximately seven days, but the effects of it would continue for more than thirty days.

Approximately 50,000 missiles could be launched at Israel from Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza (both Iranian proxies). Jews would become targets for assassination and Jewish installations besieged by Iranian terrorists worldwide. Recently, I met with my dear friend, Prime Minister Netanyahu. He said, “What is driving this is a belief in the Mahdi who disappeared about 1,000 years ago. It is believed he will return during a great apocalyptic war that will claim the lives of millions.” This radical Islamic belief, a demonic counterfeit of the Christian doctrine of the Second Coming of the Lord, almost mandates this kind of conflagration. No one wants the only country in the world with a 90 percent Shi’a population—the most extreme of the Muslim sects—to acquire the horrific weapons of atomic bombs and missiles to fulfill their twisted ideology.

On September 24, 2010, in New York City, I was granted an exclusive with Ahmadinejad. I invited the Fox News Network to join me and interview the president. I noticed that before the meeting, Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei and three additional Islamic clerics were seated together.

The remaining Iranian diplomats exited the room. The veiled woman translator was not permitted in the room. She had to translate from another location. Before the cameras were turned on, they all prayed to Allah to invoke the power of the Mahdi. Ahmadinejad did the same before he opened his mouth to say a word. Be sure and read the excerpts from that interview which follow this article. There is no doubt in my mind that this is a spirit war—a battle between darkness and light.

There are two factors that very few are considering with an Iranian response: First, the concept of risk versus reward. The last time Iran attacked the U.S. by kidnapping U.S. hostages and holding them for 444 days, President Jimmy Carter rewarded Iran by sending $7.9 billion through the Federal Reserve to the Bank of England to buy back the hostages. He also signed a top-secret agreement called the “Algerian Accord,” which guaranteed that the U.S. would not attack Iran.

Obviously, since one Liberal Left president did that in the past, Iran’s leaders will expect a greater reward for their bad behavior this time.

Second, the new wars of the 21st century are fought first as cyber wars. Phase two is economic war; phase three is media war, and then proxy wars. Countries generally no longer attack each other; they hire proxies as subcontractors to do their bidding instead. For example, Iran has the Mahdi Army in Iraq, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and Hamas in Gaza at its disposal. Only in the last and final stage of war do we see “boots on the ground.” By the time that point is reached, the war has already largely either been won or lost. The Holy Grail of understanding the times and God’s prophetic plan for God-fearing Believers concerning these events is that the only war that can be fought effectively is the spirit war.

Daniel waged a spirit war through fasting and prayer in Babylon against the demonic powers behind the throne of Persia. From that battle, the head of the nation was struck down and deliverance came for my people, the House of Israel. Today it is our turn to fight and win that vital spiritual battle so that Israel can again be delivered from destruction.
